Discussions
The Bristol Feminist Network hosts discussion groups at Cafe Kino. These informal and friendly evening meetings are usually introduced by a member or invited speaker and the subject is then opened up for discussion by the group. We aim to include at least one proposal for action related to the topic at each meeting.
Our discussion groups are an opportunity for expression and education, the sharing of ideas and experiences. The environment is friendly and accepting of the variety of different views within feminism. We benefit from contributions from older and younger group members, men and women, from around the world, people who are very well-read in feminist theory and others who would not consider that they know much about feminism at all. Our discussions often meander and become quite wide, they can inspire action and be a springboard for campaigning, they become a platform for sharing experiences and stories and ultimately reinforce and develop our ideas about feminism.
Upcoming discussion meetings are listed on our events page. If you can't come to a meeting you can still participate in feminist discussion by visiting our Discussion Forum.
Members of BFN were recently interviewed for a radio documentary which featured some of these discussion points. You can download an MP3 here.
We are putting together the 2010 schedule so if you would be interested in facilitating a discussion meeting, or just want to suggest a topic for future discussion please email us.
